I'm a Wellington NZ-based freelance graphic designer and photographer, with a degree in visual communication and over 10 years experience, within NZ and the UK.
My strength lies in reducing ideas down to their essence and communicating that visually; you might even say I'm obsessed by it. For some projects, this is enough. For others, it is part of something bigger. Working for agencies has its rewards. But freelancing is beautiful as it lets me wear different hats. I can't wear them all at once though so in order to communicate your idea to your intended audience I collaborate with like-minded individuals. Enspiral, the team I work with (40 people and growing...) can do anything a traditional agency can do, but we do it faster, cheaper and with more flexibility.
This collaboration doesn't just flow one way either. You have business ideas. I have design ideas. It makes sense for us to collaborate as great relationships build great designs. You teach me about your business and I'll teach you how design can make your business better.

Well, it's finally live folks, I no longer exist solely on paper. Stay with me, there's more coming soon...
I'm a founding member of the COSM, a network of people with complementary skills and values. A Collaboration of Similar Minds.
Why the COSM?
A collective is greater than the sum of its parts. Our range of skills lets us offer a full service. We design, code, photograph, animate, write and illustrate… And we're always looking to widen our skill base.
We’re authentic. Each of us are who we are - specialists in our own fields. There are no middlemen. So we can pass on the savings.
We’re more flexible. Our teams are built every time we undertake a project, specifically for that project. You get the best people every time, with a timeline, approach and budget to suit, with follow ups to make sure what we created is still working for you.
We’re up with the play. We like to experiment with new technology. We're a bit geeky with things like open source software, online collaboration tools, and the cloud.
We do good. We only work with those that share our ideals; we use sustainable business practices, open source and formats, we believe in accessibility and pro-bono work.
Be part of the COSM. If you are interested in collaborating with the COSM, drop me a line below.
Recently I've been working with a fantastic group called Enspiral. Enspiral is a little like the COSM, but more. So when Joshua, the founder of Enspiral asked me to join as their new Creative Lead, it got me thinking. The COSM has been my baby for two and half years - I was enjoying the opportunities, the challenges, and the flexibility. Not so much the irregular and long hours, the admin, and the working from home. Enspiral was offering me a way to get all the good bits without the not so good bits. So I jumped.
Enspiral is - like the COSM - a group of like-minded individuals working together to achieve something bigger than ourselves. Enspiral was built to take away the pain of running our own businesses while giving us the tools to focus on our skills and passions. It helps people who want to change the world have the time and money to do so.
How? As Enspiral was built to serve its members, and for purpose over profit, all it needs is a minimal infrastructure, no bosses, no middlemen, and no profit. The systems are all web-based so our structure revolves around remote networks and collaboration, rather than heirachies. Each member sets their own rates, and Enspiral takes only 20% of that. So compared to a traditional web/design agency the members get more money in their pockets at the end of the day, have more time to spend on personal projects, and our clients pay less. With a pitch like that, how could I not sign up?
What can I do for you?
